Color Break

I have all kinds of non-art things I want to write about but I need to get some posts organized and photos sorted. In other news I'm starting to get back to my regular routine and have been doing some watercolor work.

Making the Gradient

Lately I can't get enough of gradients in nature. I've been seeing them everywhere in flowers and have been on the lookout for a subtle change in color or tone in other places too...
Here are a couple I've spotted 'in the wild':

Teal in the wild.

Well Irene blew in and blew out again. We had some heavy rain and some intense winds, watched out the window with the cats, baked cookies and had a nice nap.

After she was all but gone, Curtis and I walked around our neighborhood surveying the damage. A couple huge limbs down, one or two uprooted trees and small branches everywhere.

Unrelated to the storm we happened upon some lovely examples of teal blue out and about.

Apparently those birds cannot read.

The lovely Nicole (of PinkLovesBrown and MakingItLovely fame) gave the new onesies a really sweet shout-out over on Babble! So honored!

Good Morning Houses

Here are some cute houses from around my neighborhood...

Cookie-cutter houses make me sad. Bright gingerbread-y ones make me happy. Jamaica Plain is full of them!
